Schult is a subsidiary brand of Clayton Homes and is a trusted name in the manufactured and model home industry.
Since 1934, Schult homes have become almost synonymous with quality and are well-respected due to their superior craftsmanship and value-based pricing.
Millions of families have chosen Schult for their prefab home of choice and as you will discover below, it is easy to see why based on their years of experience, the caliber of product, and exceptional customer service.
The History of Schult
The Schult brand has stood the test of time and continues to be an industry leader. To understand how they became a nationally recognized name, it is important to learn about where they started.
The Early Days
The story of Schult began when a young man from Indiana named Wilbur Schult decided to attend the Chicago World’s Fair. The year was 1933, and at this time, all of the latest innovations were exhibited here. The festival also celebrated past accomplishments.
While at the Fair, Wilbur came across a trailer home and was fascinated with the concept. There was nothing like that back in Indiana, so he set off to develop trailer homes that people would buy.
The efficiency and practicality of manufactured homes took off like wildfire! By the 1940s, Schult was asked to create a manufactured home for the King of Egypt.
By 1963 the company would grow to include manufacturing facilities across three states (Maryland, Indiana, and Michigan). As technology and natural resources continued to innovate, so did the designs, which drew a lot of interest.
Early Schult homes began to include more luxurious options and worked hard to create models that would rival traditional homes in terms of features such as built-in appliances, full interior plumbing, and they were even constructed on steel frames.
How is Schult Staying Up-To-Date on Trends?
One major factor that led to the success of the company was their commitment to creating designs that kept the modern family in mind and would make their lives easier. Schult is continuously creating updated models that showcase what their customers feel is important and keep families satisfied. Examples of modern features include large walk-in closets, spa-like showers, and finishes that are on-trend with color choices, materials, and shapes.
