Who They Are
Clayton Homes have been in business since 1956 and have forged a name as an industry leader. They have worked to make homeownership more affordable, comfortable, and sustainable for the average American. Their mission, and the quality of their homes, have led to Clayton Homes becoming the largest builder of modular homes in the United States.
In 2003, Clayton Homes joined Berkshire Hathaway, where they have continued to grow and take other companies in under their brand, including Chafin Communities, River Birch, and Schult.
One of the biggest ways in which Clayton-built homes have led the industry is through environmental sustainability. They have continuously improved their facilities and built practices to reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimize their carbon footprint.
Clayton Homes facilities are ENERGY STAR certified for their efficiency both in build practices and in the homes they produce. Clayton is also ISO14001 certified, which means they follow a set of international standards for environmental management in the conservation of resources. More recently, Clayton has led the way in becoming LEED certified, which verifies its practices to reduce its carbon footprint.

One of the oldest manufactured home companies in the industry, Schult has been in operation since 1934. They have led the way in numerous innovations, such as steel frames and built-in electrical appliances.
