Who They Are

Blox is Michigan’s premier manufacturer of shipping container homes and buildings. Working alongside us, they breathe new life into one-trip and cargo-worthy shipping containers by turning them into tiny houses, cabins, storage solutions, and other designs where the only limit is the imagination.

Clayton Homes of Grand Rapids is one of the few distributors of Blox container homes in Michigan, and we’re proud to work with this leader in innovation to bring you these high-quality, affordable housing and storage solutions.

Blox Container Homes

Here are just a few of the reasons why Blox shipping containers may be the best option for your new home or space:

Affordability

Compared to traditional site-built homes, Blox’s container homes cost a fraction of the price while still offering the same amenities.

Sustainability

Instead of shipping containers being sold for scrap, container homes allow people to upcycle these byproducts of the shipping process in a way that is more energy efficient and prevents wasted building materials.

Flexibility

Blox shipping containers are inherently multipurpose, making them great for recreational use or as residential living spaces.

Durability

In most cases, these shipping containers were designed to survive voyages across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, through rough seas and storms, potentially for months at a time depending on their destinations. They can handle almost any wear and tear you might throw at them, including the Midwest’s infamous summer storms.

Customization

Blox tiny homes can be customized to include all the comforts you’d expect from a home, such as balcony space, multiple floors, and modern interior design.

Blox Shipping Container Options

Blox homes are like a blank canvas where you can leave your mark and make a house truly your own design. These are some of the ways you can use Blox shipping containers.

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU)

Otherwise known as a Tiny Home, the ADU typically includes a full kitchen and bathroom, a private bedroom, laundry areas, a dining room, and more. These are great solutions for individuals and families who don’t need a lot of space for their main living quarters, or for families who want to offer more privacy to guests who are staying the night.

We have two ADU-friendly options available: an 8 by 30-foot model and an 8 by 40-foot model. Builders can attach them to existing residences or other shipping containers for a fast, efficient addition.

She Sheds

She Sheds, and their more masculine cousin the Man Cave, are excellent hobby spaces. Blox’s She Sheds come complete with ceiling fans, a residential door, and windows to let in natural light. They make ideal game rooms, sewing rooms, reading areas, mini-greenhouses, poolrooms, bar areas, or hangout spaces of all stripes.

Our She Shed measures 8 feet by 20 feet, making it an ideal multipurpose space to add to your existing property as a place to get away.

Hunter’s Cabins

Need a comfortable, affordable place to stay during deer or turkey season? The 8 by 20-foot Hunter’s Cabin features lounge areas, dining areas, a full kitchen, and space for multiple bunk beds. It also features safe storage compartments and can stay comfortable off the grid with a generator or solar panels.

Need even more space for ATVs, snowmobiles, or as a place to process what you hunt? We also offer an 8 by 40-foot Hunter’s Cabin & Toy Box Combo to provide the extra storage you need during your hunting trips.

Blox Shipping Container Home Prices

While container homes typically cost less than other more traditional home types, the price for your container depends on several factors. These include:

  • Size: Stacking or attaching multiple containers for a full-size container home will generally cost more than buying a single unit.
  • Design: Generally speaking, intricate layouts and custom floor plans will cost more than some of the standard options we have available through Blox.
  • Customization options: Including bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen layouts in your converted container space will generally cost more.

To learn more about the pricing options for specific models, reach out to our staff and we’ll help you know which options might be best for you.
