Our Story
In 1977, Kim Arnold began selling simple, portable homes to the community of West Michigan. These buildings were akin to what most people picture when they think of home trailers—sturdy, standard, affordable homes. Slowly but surely, Arnold’s manufactured homes started to become more customizable. By placing a strong focus on structural integrity and always maintaining incredible customer service, Arnold’s business was the perfect fit for Scott Myhre to take over.
Today, Preferred Homes customizes and installs high-quality modular and manufactured homes. Every aspect of our process takes your budget and needs into consideration. We have expanded to offer everything from porches to garages to decks to walkout basements, giving you every amenity that standard, stick-built homes would entail, often with better building standards, lower costs, and quicker turnaround time.

Scott Myhre
Scott leads Preferred Homes through honesty, integrity, and experience—he has been involved with manufactured homes, building, and real estate since 1995. Resonating with the mission of creating quality, reliable, affordable homes for the people of Michigan, Scott purchased Preferred Homes and has passionately continued to contribute to its incredible 40+ year legacy.
Since its inception, Preferred Homes has embraced and embodied the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Scott is proud to live by that principle, and it shines through in every interaction.
Sheri Campbell
Preferred Homes welcomed Sheri to the family in 2005—nearly two decades later, we are so happy she is on our team! With many years of industry experience already under her belt, Sheri’s detail-oriented nature keeps many facts of our office and transport logistics running smoothly.
Dawn Willmarth
Dawn joined our team in early 2020. Her many years of experience in service, sales, and production scheduling have been an incredible asset to Preferred. She is very knowledgeable and familiar with the manufacturing industry and a vital member of our team.
Wendy DeLange
We were blessed to have Wendy join our team in 2018. Wendy is as well-rounded as they come, having over 40 years of experience in the construction and real estate industries, and also has world-class customer service skills. She is hardworking, compassionate, and fun—she always has a smile while prioritizing customers’ needs. She brings an abundance of knowledge to our growing company, and we are grateful she is a part of Preferred Homes.
Robert Kennedy
Robert is the most recent addition to the Preferred Homes team, and we are thrilled he has joined us. Robert’s extensive knowledge of real estate and our building process, as well as his passion for matching people with their dream home, ensure that our customers' needs are always met and often exceeded.
Deb Thayer
Deb’s career in the manufactured home industry began in 1988. She has experience in sales, construction, and home financing of both private property and community environments. After a stint in the sunshine state, she came back to Michigan and continued work in the modular and manufactured home sector. She has continued her long track record of serving our wonderful customers, and Preferred is thankful to have her!
Marilyn Plotts
Marilyn has been working in the manufactured and modular home industry since the early 90s! She has a wealth of knowledge and uses her extensive experience to make the home buying process an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
Beth Leslie
Beth came to us with a comprehensive background in both real estate and construction, making her a great fit from the get-go. As a licensed real estate professional, she has the knowledge to help our customers navigate the journey of selling their existing home at the same time as purchasing a new one. Beth’s years of construction experience put customers' minds at ease and help facilitate a smooth transaction. Beth is a welcome addition to our sales team!
Chris Gould
Yep—he can do it all! With a background in site construction and carpentry, and experience hauling and setting manufactured homes, Chris is an asset to making sure that every experience will be a Preferred experience.

Going on 13 years at Preferred Homes, Chuck has over 15 years of experience servicing manufactured homes. His friendliness, extensive knowledge, and ingenuity make him the perfect fit in keeping our customer’s homes in outstanding condition.
