Container homes have become one of the most exciting new trends in manufactured housing due to their size, affordability, and customization options. As one of the few distributors of Blox container homes in Michigan, Preferred Homes is the perfect place to pick out your next guest house, storage shed, or creative space.

What Is a Container Home?

Shipping container homes are storage or dwelling units built from the bodies of shipping containers. They are 160–320 sq. ft. in size and can be fitted with bathrooms, bedrooms, windows, and doors. Some container homes are built from multiple containers stacked on top of each other to create stylish, modern designs.

If you’re looking for a multi-unit design, we can connect you with our expert manufacturers who can talk with you about the custom options they have available. But if you’re in the market for a single-unit container home, we have multiple options available now.

Sturdier and more durable than sheds, container homes can also be built and delivered much faster than traditional, site-build structures. Because of their simple and straightforward designs, container homes have the flexibility to serve as a wide range of living, working, recreational, and storage spaces. Our manufacturers can design the homes to fit your needs, or you can add your own features after delivery.

Types of Container Homes Available

Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)

Also known as a Tiny Home, the ADU includes a full kitchen and bathroom, private bedroom, laundry, dining area, and more. We currently have two options in stock, an 8 ft. by 30 ft. model and an 8 ft. by 40 ft. model. They can be attached to existing residences for a fast and efficient expansion or serve their own stand-alone houses.

She Shed

The 8 ft. by 20 ft. She Shed was created to be a comfortable creative space, complete with ceiling fans, a residential door, and several windows to let in plenty of natural light. It’s ideal for a sewing room, mini-greenhouse, reading room, or hangout room. If it’s not a She Shed you’re interested in but a Man Cave, we can easily build that for you too. The unit could be a poolroom, kids’ hang-out room, office, bar area, or whatever else you’d like to do with it.

Hunter’s Cabin

Looking for a comfortable, affordable, and portable place to stay while on a hunting trip? The 8 ft. by 20 ft. Hunter’s Cabin features a lounge area, multiple eating areas, a full kitchen, and room for multiple bunk beds. It also contains safe storage compartments and the capability to work off the grid with a generator or solar panels.

We also have an 8 ft. by 40 ft. Hunter’s Cabin & Toy Box Combo to ensure you have all the storage space you need for your hunting trips.

Toy Box

The Toy Box is an ideal storage space or mini-garage. At 8 ft. by 20 ft., it’s large enough to hold side-by-sides, quads, or personal watercraft. It also has plenty of space for your gardening or hunting supplies, or even extra bunk space when you’re in need.
