Champion Home Builders has nearly 70 years of experience in high-quality modular and manufactured homes. They offer a wide range of options, from ranch-style starter homes to the customizable Cape Cod. 

Champion is consistently recognized for their commitment to quality and excellence in the home design industry. Champion’s parent company, Skyline Champion, was recently awarded a Building Systems Councils Jerry Rouleau Award for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design. Champion was also awarded three Manufactured and Modular Home Design Awards from the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI). It was the third consecutive year Skyline Champion was honored by the MHI.

Quality Construction

Champion’s manufactured and modular homes are built in dedicated facilities to maximize efficiency, optimize the building process, and protect the home from the elements. Every home is built in sections in a facility before being transported and placed on permanent foundations by professional installers.

Champion uses many of the same kinds of materials as site-built homes, including roof trusses, structural floor decking, 2x4 or 2x6 exterior walls, and blown cellulose insulation. But Champion’s expert craftsmen also have access to tools, jigs, and worktables that on-site builders wouldn’t have access to, which allow them to build higher quality, more durable homes. Approximately 80–90% of the construction work for each home is completed at the facility.

Champion’s Rural Michigan Roots

Champion Home Builders was founded in a small town in rural Michigan in 1953. Over the decades, Champion has expanded to 40 facilities in North America and more than 7,700 dedicated employees worldwide. During that time, Champion has sold more than three million manufactured and modular homes.

It’s not so different from our story at Preferred Homes! We began in 1977 when Kim Arnold began selling portable homes in the West Michigan community. Today we remain family-owned and -operated, and are proud to give back to our community.

Energy Efficient

Champion Home Builders strives to create homes that are not only better for the environment, but that will also save money in the long run. With energy costs continuing to rise, it's more important than ever to use materials and appliances that won’t break the bank.

Champion’s combination of heating and cooling systems are 20–30% more efficient than standard homes. Their windows also use low-emissivity glass, which limits the amount of ultraviolet and infrared light that passes through the window to prevent energy loss. Every Champion home also has high insulation requirements and a tight building envelope to minimize heat loss.

Champion also embraces the green revolution during the construction of its homes. Their builders use resource-efficient and recyclable materials, along with a waste management plan, to reduce construction by at least two-thirds.

Ranch Homes

Ranch homes are great for new families and offer easy access to every living space. Champion offers a wide range of ranch homes, from the 1,540-square-foot Freeport to the 2,334-square-foot Grandview.

Two-Story Homes

Champion’s two-story homes offer expanded space for growing families, with spacious kitchens, walk-in storage closets, and multiple sitting areas. Their Konrad model is 2,420-square-feet, with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms.

Cape Cod-Style homes
